Life Groups ...

Life Groups are small groups of people which meet on Wednesdays or Thursdays in different homes. We call them "Life Groups" because, in faith, we call them what we want them to be - places where we find Life; places where we really want to be. They are there to help us grow as disciples, and with each other's help, reach out more effectively to our friends with the Gospel.

At the beginning of 2007, the Elders shared their new vision statement with the church. Their heart was that...
We want to be:
A Worshipping Church
A Community Church
A Missionary Church

- Advancing the Kingdom through the Word and the Spirit.

Thus we seek to build these Life Groups on this same vision.

A Worshipping Church

Worship embraces our whole service to God, and our obedience to His will. So it includes discipleship, holiness, accountability, and love all expressed in our daily walk with God. Out of this comes the expressions of love, gratitude, wonder and worship that we speak out when we come together in worship.
When we do come together in Life Groups, or on Sunday mornings, the Bible gives us some fairly fluid guidelines as to what we should do. Psalm 100 speaks of coming into His presence with joyful songs, and entering His gates with thanksgiving. In 1Cor:14:25, Paul encourages us to come with something that will be a blessing to the church. So every member participation is the goal as we learn to flow together led by the Holy Spirit.

We explored in more detail what we're aiming for as we worship together in Life Groups in a training seminar we did a few months ago. You can have a read of the notes by clicking here.

A Community Church

Life Groups are the place for building friendships, and learning to love one another. But the idea is that groups grow through friendship evangelism; and are the means through which new believers are discipled. When a Life Group reaches about 14 members, it multiplies and becomes two new groups.

A Missionary Church

Life Groups can also be the place where we introduce people to Christ. Groups grow in a number of ways, but one of them is through friendship evangelism. They become then the means through which new believers are discipled. When a Life Group reaches about 14 members, it multiplies and becomes two new groups.

Life Groups meet for Friendship, Worship, Bible Application, and Praying for growth in the Kingdom.
Members of the group take turns to lead different parts of the group. You may be asked to lead the time of Worship, or lead the discussion over the Word. We pray and minister into each other's situations, and for those we are trying to reach with the gospel.
When it's your turn to do The Word, one thing that we've come to realise is important is the need to prepare it properly. So here are some notes to help you.Click here to go to notes on Preparing The Word
The structure is flexible. The ultimate goal is to meet with Jesus.
